The restaurant is located on North Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach, about five miles north of Paradise Resort near the Colony Square Shopping Center – which includes a Cinemark theater, in case you’re looking for dinner and a movie all within a 10 minute from the resort.
Aspen Grille is owned and operated by executive chef Curry Martin, who worked for several winery restaurants in Napa Valley, Calif., as well as at restaurants in Paris, France, and in Charlotte, N.C., before he bought the Aspen Grille in 2009. The restaurant provides a warm ambience, from the original art on the walls to the soft lighting to the knowledgeable, helpful service—not to mention live jazz and acoustic music Wednesdays through Saturday nights.
The food at Aspen Grille is marked by skillful execution of superior ingredients. “Both my filet and my wife’s strip steak were cooked to perfection,” said Yelp reviewer Scot G., adding “The béarnaise sauce was impeccable.” The menu changes regularly but look for items like seared New Bedford sea scallops with corn and pea risotto with fried spinach and white butter sauce, or local shrimp and grits with Andouille sausage and pan gravy.
Aspen Grille is also known for its excellent wine list, selected by Chef Martin. The list features “interesting newcomers to old-world classics from small-production winemakers,” according to the Aspen Grille website.
Aspen Grille recently introduced a new bar menu featuring 8 small plates great for sharing, including grilled shrimp tacos with lime crème fraiche and fried green tomatoes with pancetta bacon and béarnaise sauce. The plates range from $8 to $14, and are half-priced during happy hour from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays. Check for specially priced drinks during happy hour, and for a mid-week treat, stop in for “Wine Down Wednesday,” during which you can get half priced wines by the glass at the bar.
