Best Bets for Labor Day Weekend in Myrtle Beach
Labor Day may be the traditional end of summer, but here in Myrtle Beach, it’s just one more excuse to have a good time. The end of summer is still a ways down the road!
There are plenty of options for Labor Day fun aside from simply hanging out at the beach for three days—though we won’t blame you if that’s all you want to do. Here are a few best bets for a fun Labor Day Weekend in Myrtle Beach:
Live music, art and craft vendors and a barbecue contest? Yes, please. This fun event takes place at Grand Park at The Market Common in Myrtle Beach, just about a 10-minute drive from Paradise Resort. The event is free to attend, and will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30; noon to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31; and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1.
You can sample from the “anything goes” cook-off on Friday for $1 per sample; Sunday’s wing cook-off samples will also be $1. Barbecue from the teams competing in the big contest (which gives out $20,000 in prize money, so expect stiff competition!) will be available with a $10 wristband beginning at noon Saturday, but keep in mind that there’s a limited supply. Kids younger than 6 can sample Saturday for free. Beer and wine will be sold all three days.
Be sure to check out the Flyboard demonstrations by HydroFly Myrtle Beach on Grand Lake at 1, 3 and 5 p.m. Saturday. According to festival organizers, “The Flyboard is a revolutionary new water sport that allows users to swim like a dolphin and hover up to 20 feet in the air.” There will also be a free kids zone from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday with inflatables, games and activities.
Surfside Beach Endless Summer Celebration
The town of Surfside Beach, which is located about 15 minutes south of Paradise Resort, will host its annual Endless Summer Celebration from 4 to 8 p.m. Sept. 1. Look for music, food and vendors at the Surfside Pier.
Labor Day Weekend Fireworks
Labor Day marks the end of Broadway’s Coca Cola Summer Nights, and they literally go out with a bang with a big fireworks show at 10 p.m. Aug. 31.
The Second Avenue Pier’s fireworks show will also take place at 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31
Those are just a few options for fun on Labor Day weekend. There will also be plenty of fun here at Paradise Resort, including Steak Night at the Tiki Grill from 4 to 7 p.m. And of course if you stay the week, you cans also enjoy D.J. Scott Shaw on the pool deck on Tuesday and Thursday, as he’ll be entertaining at Paradise Resort through Sept. 12 this year.
Whatever you do, get ready for a fun, Myrtle Beach-style farewell to summer!
