Grand Strand locals know the time of year by the annual events we are lucky enough to host here in the Myrtle Beach area. One event that marks the beginning of the spring season – and a great way to say goodbye to Old Man Winter – is the Pee Dee Street Rodders car show, otherwise known as the Run to the Sun Car Show. Paradise Resort has welcomed both participants in and enthusiasts of the car show for decades now. We’ve become a tradition within the tradition. Come join us for the fun this year and kick off spring at the beach with a little sun and fun.
This year, the 29th Annual Run to the Sun will be held in Myrtle Beach on March, 16th, 17th and 18th. All proceeds from the event are donated to the Children’s Miracle Network and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. While last year’s show raised nearly $100,000 – an impressive amount – event organizers hope to exceed that figure this year.
The Run to the Sun Car Show is held at the former Myrtle Square Mall location at 2501 N. Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach. While you are in town, please ask the friendly staff at Paradise Resort for parking details. We are happy to help you find your way around the area throughout the show. If you are interested in participating in the show with your own classic car, there is still time. Pre-registration is open through March 5th, and the fee is $40. The day-of-show registration fee is $45.
To give you an idea of what to expect at the show, the Pee Dee Street Rodders have an incredible track record of success and fun for both those who participate and those who just come to enjoy the show. In 2016, more than 3,000 beautiful cars and trucks came to show off their best. The winners of last year’s show took home $2,500 each and were featured on this year’s Pee Dee Street Rodders Run to the Sun T-shirts, hats, and memorabilia. What kinds of prizes and giveaways can be expected during this year’s fabulous event? There will be various cash prizes for winning participants, a 50/50 cash drawing, door prizes, cash drawings and more!
If you are new to the Run to the Sun Car Show and Myrtle Beach, you will quickly find that the location of the show could not be better. The event is held in the heart of Myrtle Beach, giving you easy access to a wealth of entertainment and dining options. The show itself is only blocks from the beach, and you will also find that the Broadway at the Beach entertainment, shopping and dining complex is within a short drive (or even a walk) of the show. Here, you will find a great break in the day with world-class restaurants, entertainment and shopping. You can even take in a game of mini golf, do a little zip-lining over Lake Broadway or even tackle the ropes course at Broadway at the Beach during your break from weekend of fun at the car show.
