Halloween is still a couple of months away, but it's never too early to give your heart a good jolt or your spine a nice tingle. And nowhere else on the Grand Strand offers a year-round scare like Ripley's Haunted Adventure, the spookiest spot in Myrtle Beach.

Located in the heart of the downtown district, Ripley's Haunted Adventure is hard to miss – even among the many surrounding neon-lit shops and attractions. Situated in an Ocean Boulevard strip building, this haunted house is like none you've visited before.

Curious bystanders stop and gawk at the tattered looking structure with broken shutters and creepy cobwebs, and hear the frightening screams and noises that echo from inside. Shady characters stand outside and dare guests to come inside – at their own risks.

The faint of heart usually decide against going inside. But for those brave enough to enter, the experience starts with a rickety elevator ride to the top floor of an abandoned building previously owned by the defunct Grimsby & Steaper Import and Export Company. An odd-looking caretaker gives guests the grand tour, if you can call it that.

Armed only with flashlights to illuminate the contents of the crate filled warehouse, guests quickly learn that Grimsby & Steaper were in the business of importing some strange creatures that inhabit the building and do their best to scare away visitors. There's a scare around every dark corner of this three-story haunted attraction as visitors find their way to a frightening finish.

Without spoiling all the frightening surprises, let’s just say you should brace yourself for a realistically scary experience. Through the use of high-tech special effects, animatronics and live actors, Ripley's Haunted Adventure takes the spirit of haunted houses to the next level – one that will leave a lasting impression on patrons.

Guests at Paradise Resort have even more incentive to take a spooky stroll through Ripley's Haunted Adventure. As part of your Sun Fun Rewards package that you receive upon checking in, guests are entitled to free passes to several attractions in the Myrtle Beach area, including tickets to one of Ripley's five attractions on the Strand.

Myrtle Beach vacationers can also save money by attending multiple attractions by Ripley's, the first name in family entertainment. Guests can save as much as $27 per person by packaging Ripley's Haunted Adventure with its other four attractions – Ripley's Aquarium, Ripley's Odditorium, Ripley's Mirror Maze and Ripley's Moving Theater. Here’s a brief description of each stop on the Ripley’s tour:

  • Ripley’s Aquarium:  This Broadway at the Beach venue is the crown jewel of Ripley’s Myrtle Beach properties. Featuring enormous tanks filled with sharks, stingrays and other creatures from the deep blue sea, this attraction allows guests to have close encounters and interactive experiences with aquatic wildlife. Take a ride on the people-mover through a shark-infested exhibit known as Danger Reef, and pet the stingrays at the Ray Bay display.
  • Ripley’s Odditorium: See a bizarre collection of artifacts and exhibits from Ripley’s worldwide travels for the hard to explain. Guests can see some of the oddities of nature on full display at this downtown museum of the strange.
  • Ripley’s Mirror Maze: Watch yourself stumble through this reflective maze in search of the exit sign. Visitors will laugh at the confusion created by seeing their own image around every door in an attraction designed for the whole family.
  • Ripley’s Moving Theater: Experience the thrill of riding on a twisting roller coaster, the wonder of flight and the magic of mind-altering displays at this high-tech motion machine. This attraction uses sights and sounds to simulate adrenaline-pumping activities without leaving your seat.
