If you ask Myrtle Beach locals what their favorite time of year is, most will likely tell you the fall. There are many reasons to love this season at the beach. In the autumn, Myrtle Beach has gorgeous weather, smaller crowds and festivals galore!

One of the Grand Strand’s favorite festivals is the Coastal Uncorked food, wine, beer and spirits festival.  This year will mark the event’s sixth here at the beach, and this installment promises to be the best yet. If you haven’t been, make plans to attend this year and enjoy all Myrtle Beach has to offer during this wonderful time of year.

In 2009, the festival got its start thanks to a group of volunteers who had a vision to create a food and wine festival that would showcase all that our area has to offer. Later, with the added participation of great chefs such as Paula Deen and the Lee Brothers, the festival was off to a grand second year, and a tradition was born for the Grand Strand’s festival scene. Each year, the festival has increased in size and attendance, quickly becoming a favorite for many festival-goers.

The Myrtle Beach Area Hospitality Association acquired the festival in 2012, and it has since moved to its permanent slot of Labor Day weekend every year. In its fifth year, the festival added the Chocolate Under the Moon event. Now, with the weekend’s festivities including the participation of 15 vineyards offering over 100 varieties of wine and food to match, this is a do-not-miss event along the Strand.

Looking forward to the 6th Annual Coastal Uncorked, this installment promises to be the biggest and most exciting to date! The festival will be held in the parking lot behind Pavilion Park Central, which is located near the Welcome Center on Broadway at the Beach’s 21st Avenue side. This gives it an excellent central location for Myrtle Beach visitors.

Mark your calendar and make plans with Paradise Resort for the weekend of Sept. 2-4. The festival kicks off on Friday with the Chocolate Under the Moon event. Here, attendants will enjoy a unique moonshine mixology challenge in which bartenders compete for votes for as to who makes the best moonshine cocktail. This already-well-loved event is combined with delicious desserts and live music to create the perfect start to the festival’s three-day weekend.

If you love craft beer, you’re in for a treat on Saturday, which is when the festival’s Brews ‘N the Beach craft beer event is held from 4 to 7 p.m. Attendees will be able to sample specialty and rare craft beers from across the nation. Of course, there will be live music and food from vendors to tempt your taste buds also.

The close of the festival comes on Sunday with the much-anticipated Grand Wine Tasting Tent open from 1 to 5 p.m. Here, attendees can enjoy a variety of wines from across the country, a Boar’s Head deli sampler plate, wonderful live music and, of course, a Coastal Uncorked souvenir wine glass.

The 6th Annual Coastal Uncorked wine, beer and spirits festival is promising its most exciting installment to date. If you have not already purchased your tickets, you can do so by going to www.coastaluncorked.com.  The event does sell out, and advance tickets are necessary — so make sure you purchase soon. And when the festivities wind down each day, head back to your home away from home at Myrtle Beach’s Paradise Resort to rest and get ready for the next day of fun!
