A Memorable Memorial Day in Myrtle Beach

To start the weekend, let’s talk about what most everyone comes here for – the beach. Paradise Resort is located oceanfront on the beautiful southern end of Myrtle Beach. Steps from your home away from home with us will be the white-sand beach, the sea air and the beauty of the Atlantic Ocean. Start your morning by visiting our fully appointed breakfast bar, complete with a waffle station where you can create your own delicious masterpiece. Then head down to the beach while it’s early. This means the crowds are still subdued and the sun isn’t too hot yet. After you’ve made a few sandcastles, caught a few waves and found a shark’s tooth or two, head back to the resort for lunch at Sandal’s Restaurant or the Tiki Hut. After lunch is the perfect time to hit the water, but this time try the fresh water of our indoor and outdoor pools, our hot tub or our lazy river. Dinnertime already? Make your way back to Sandal’s Restaurant, or pick up your favorite picnic munchies and have a beachside picnic at our outdoor dining area. Ready to dine yet?

Of course, we know you won’t spend every moment with us here at the resort, so next, we’ll cover a few places you’ll want to hit while here for the big summer-opening weekend. How about a little shopping, dining, dancing, and maybe even some arcade action or amusement park rides for the kids? We’ve got you covered. You will want to carve out some time for Broadway at the Beach. This is where Myrtle Beach really comes to life. Here, you will find everything from Ripley’s Aquarium, speedboat rides and the Hollywood Wax Museum to loads of shopping, a wide range of restaurants and even a piano bar. Since Memorial Day weekend is a busy one, a local’s tip is to go during non-peak hours to avoid the crowds. Eating a late lunch or early dinner will save you a potentially long wait, and you will be able to enjoy activities such as mini golf when the crowds are smaller. The ropes course, zip lines and water sports all get more crowded as the day goes on, so those are activities you may want to hit first thing.

Wanting a little more thrill and excitement in your vacation? Not a problem – Myrtle Beach definitely has you covered. Family Kingdom Amusement Park and Splashes Oceanfront Water Park (the ONLY oceanfront water park on the Grand Strand!) are the perfect combinations for those wanting a little heart-pounding fun. Located just over a mile north of your home away from home at Paradise Resort, the parks offer combination pricing for those who want to make a day and night of the thrilling rides. You will enjoy everything from the Strand’s original wooden roller coaster, The Swamp Fox, to the Ferris wheel with one of the best views on the beach. And that’s just at Family Kingdom. Splashes will provide you with hours of fun with splash attractions just for the children, as well as wild waterslides for those with a need for speed. Of course, there is also a lazy river for those who want to just kick back and relax while floating under refreshing waterfalls.

Ready for summer? Your staff here at Paradise Resort has been working hard to have everything ready for the big weekend. We do suggest you avoid the Highway 17 Bypass during peak hours throughout the holiday weekend. And as always, we are happy to help you find your way around the Grand Strand anytime during your visit – just ask. We want to do everything we can to help you create the best family memories possible for your Memorial Day vacation.
