Myrtle Beach is a great spring break destination, if you know where to go. Unlike many of the “party beaches” where college kids go to sow their wild oats, the Grand Strand maintains its reputation as a family beach that offers spring break fun for all ages. But for those looking to have good, clean grownup fun, can find it in varying degrees of wildness at the various nightclubs and music venues in Myrtle Beach. Here are a few of our guest’s favorite places to celebrate spring break on the Grand Strand:

  • Broadway at the Beach: For those looking for some nightlife, even during the daytime, Broadway at the Beach's Celebrity Square is the place to be. Featuring a dozen clubs ranging from live music (Froggy Bottomz), comedy (Crocodile Rocks), dancing (Club Boca), sports bars (Broadway Louie's) and a whole lot more. Celebrity Square is undergoing a major renovation that is bringing new venues to the lineup, including American Tap House, Dave & Buster’s and OZ Nightclub. Senor Frogs and Liberty Steakhouse and Brewery are also popular restaurant hangouts for spring breakers, and Broadway hosts special outdoor parties for St. Patrick's Day and fireworks for Easter weekend.

  • House of Blues: Located at Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach, this popular hot spot features two live music venues and an excellent soul-food restaurant. The main concert hall plays host to nationally touring artists of all genres, and the springtime sees an influx of high-energy shows. On Friday, March 18, Tuesday's Gone performs a tribute to Southern rock pioneer Lynyrd Skynyrd, followed by the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour featuring Fetty Wap on Saturday, March 19. On Friday, March 25, Future: The Purple Rain Tour rolls through the HOB, and popular rock band Disturbed rocks the house on Tuesday, March 29. If you're not in town for one of those shows, check out the HOB's Crossroads Bar for live local and regional bands in a smaller venue.

  • Myrtle Beach Boardwalk: The downtown district comes alive with activity in the spring, including concert events, fireworks shows and kids carnivals throughout the season at the Player Park plaza. Spring breakers also want to check out LandShark Landing at the base of the Myrtle Beach SkyWheel, where singer Jimmy Buffett's own brand of beer and the laid-back beach lifestyle attract a fun crowd. Visit an old-school honky tonk at The Bowery or an all-ages dance club at Club Karma Ultimate Teen Nightlife. Stroll from one end of the 1.3-mile walkway to the other, from Bandito's Cantina to Second Avenue Pier, for the ultimate oceanfront pub crawl.

  • Ocean Drive: The historic dance clubs of North Myrtle Beach, where the Carolina Shag was born back in the mid-1900s, are still alive and kicking. Although they might draw a slightly older crowd than the traditional spring breakers, the folks who flock to the Grand Strand to do the South Carolina state dance are still young at heart. Popular dance clubs like Fat Harold's, the OD Lounge and the Spanish Galleon feature live beach music perfect for shagging, as well as country line dancing and freestyle. The SOS Safari is held April 15-24 and sees thousands of dancers descend on Ocean Drive, but there's always something hopping in the district during spring break.
