One of the most popular things to do during a vacation is catching a movie, especially during cooler months. Myrtle Beach has several opportunities to watch new and recent releases, some without costing you a dime. Guests can go out for dinner and a show and make a night of it, or relax in their room at the Paradise Resort for a quiet evening in. Whatever your choice, here are four places to see a movie in Myrtle Beach:

  1. Red Box: If you can’t find what you are looking for in the lobby there are several movie rental dispensers in the area. The closest locations are Red Box vending machines, which can be rented using a credit card. Visit the Red Box kiosks at 1430 South Kings Highway or the Walgreen’s at 512 South Kings Highway, just a few blocks away from Paradise Resort, or pick one up while you are out shopping at Market Common at 1220 Moser Drive.
  2. Libraries: Save the money you spend on tickets and refreshments by attending a free film series at our local libraries. Chapin Memorial Library in downtown Myrtle Beach offers Film Fridays featuring recent releases for ages 18 and over. Enjoy free popcorn and bring your own drink for these 1:30 p.m. matinees. Upcoming movies include “Love and Mercy” (Dec. 18) and a Family Movie and Sing-A-Long evening featuring “Frozen” (Dec. 29). The Horry County Library system has several branches that offer movie time for kids, including “Polar Express” Pajama Parties for the holidays.
  3. Theaters: Paradise Resort is conveniently located close to several pristine movie theaters, including the Grand 14 Cinema at Market Common and Cinemark at Coastal Grand Mall. For a more moving movie experience, visit the Carmike Cinemas at Broadway at the Beach, which has 16 standard theaters plus the state-of-the-art IMAX 3D complex. With high-tech special effects and digital surround sound, the IMAX 3D gives moviegoers the chance to experience a new release like never before. Other theaters can be found at the Myrtle Beach Mall on the North Strand and Inlet Square Mall on the South Strand.
  4. Frank’s Entertainment: Catch a movie and a whole lot more at this massive entertainment complex in Garden City Beach. Featuring a restaurant and bar area where you can enjoy dinner and drinks over a movie and private viewing rooms for groups, Frank’s takes the theater experience to the next level. And after sitting stationary for a couple of hours, stroll into the bowling alley or the arcade for some fun and games. Frank’s offers billiards, cosmic bowling and all the latest high-tech video games, as well as a full menu of food and drinks.

Whether you want to see a new movie out in the theaters or a classic in the comfort of your oceanfront room, the Paradise Resort, Myrtle Beach is the place to stay to make sure your vacation is a smash hit.
