New Year's Eve is a great time to set the tone for happy days to come, and Myrtle Beach is the ideal place to celebrate the occasion. With special events, fireworks, concerts and parties scheduled throughout the 60-mile stretch of coast called the Grand Strand, visitors can ring in 2017 in true beach fashion by staying and playing at the Caribbean Resort & Villas.
Featuring comfortable oceanfront accommodations, a heated indoor water park, and on-site dining and drinks, the Caribbean provides the perfect spot for a fun and festive New Year's without leaving the property. But for those who want a big night out on the town, the Caribbean puts you right in the middle of all the action — and there is plenty of action to go around. Here's a look at some of the highlight events on the social calendar for the biggest (and first) party of 2017:
* Barefoot Landing: Grab a cab to North Myrtle Beach and catch some of the best New Year's Eve parties on the Strand. It all starts with a free fireworks show over Broadway Lake at 6 p.m., and many of the popular restaurants in the area are taking reservations for special menus that will ensure your final meal of 2016 will be a fine-dining feast. In addition to a concert by Country favorite Corey Smith, the House of Blues is offering a special Dinner & Dancing package that will be hopping well after midnight. (The adjoining Crossroads Bar will be, too, albeit it in a less formal setting.) Families can catch the final presentations of the holiday show at the Alabama Theatre, with matinee and evening performances.
* Broadway at the Beach: Located about one mile inland from the Caribbean Resort — a straight shot down 29th Avenue North — Broadway at the Beach is the headquarters for New Year's Eve festivities for adults and children alike. Ripley's Aquarium hosts a sleepover for kids who don't mind cozying up next to the sharks, while Celebrity Square serves as party central for New Year's revelers. A street party with live music, fireworks and entertainment takes place outside the clubs, which hold their own New Year's events. Find your scene at one of the dozen or so clubs, or go on a pub crawl and try to crash all the parties.
* The Market Common: How many times have you watched the midnight madness of New York's Times Square on TV and wished you could be a part of the fun? Well, here's your chance to witness it without having to make the trek to the Big Apple, as The Market Common hosts “A Southern Times Square” on New Year's Eve. This family-friendly festival features two stages hosting live music in the popular shopping and dining district, and many bars and restaurants are staying open late to accommodate revelers. A free fireworks show and a midnight ball drop are among the highlights of the event.
* Murrells Inlet MarshWalk: The sleepy little fishing village of Murrells Inlet stays up late for New Year's Eve, and the MarshWalk is the hub of activity. The wooden walkway along the waterfront leads to a dozen or so restaurants and clubs celebrating the occasion, and there are fireworks and live music to add to the festive atmosphere. Located about 15 miles south of the Caribbean Resort, Murrells Inlet is also home to beautiful Brookgreen Gardens, which hosts a special evening tour of the gardens under candlelight.
After a wild New Year’s night out on the town, returning to your room at the Caribbean Resort & Villas is a relaxing way to wake up on New Year’s Day. Make your plans to spend the holiday with us, and get ready for a wonderful start to 2017.
