Offering luxurious accommodations, an indoor pool and other amenities, Litchfield Beach gives guests plenty to do on those chillier times, and even more outdoor activities for those sunny days.

Litchfield Beach is making it easier and more affordable than ever to take a weekend break during the final stage of winter. Guests who arrive any Friday for a two-day stay between February 19 and March 18 can save up to 40 percent off our regular rates. This special does not include breakfast or golf. Here's a list of our guests’ favorite things to do during a warm-weekend getaway to Litchfield Beach & Golf Resort:

* Beach: This one is obvious, but it can't be understated. There's something about the first trip to the beach after a long winter, letting your skin soak up some warm sunshine and your mind unwind to the sound of the waves. Although the ocean temperatures are still in the 50-degree range, the air temps are returning to the 60s and 70s – perfect for a relaxing nap on the beach or tossing Frisbee in the surf. Litchfield Beach & Golf Resort has a long stretch of white-sand beach just steps away from your room and the oceanfront pool deck so you can find your own secluded spot in the sand to recharge your solar batteries.

* Brookgreen Gardens: The spring flowers are preparing to bloom as the gray days of winter turn into the sunnier days of spring. Those are ideal conditions for strolling around the East Coast's oldest and largest botanical sculpture garden without concern about it getting too cold or crowded. Featuring more than 9,000 acres of scenic Lowcountry landscapes and unique statues, Brookgreen is located just a few miles from Litchfield Beach but seems like a world away. The former rice plantation also offers a zoo, boat rides, tours and more. Admission is good for seven days so you can choose the warmest days of the week to visit.

* Festivals: The warmer weekends are enough of a reason for local folks to throw a party, and there are several special outdoor events on the calendar in the coming days. St. Patrick's Day features lots of small celebrations at local restaurants and pubs, as well as larger festivals at the Murrells Inlet Marshwalk, Myrtle Beach and the North Myrtle Beach St. Patrick's Day Parade & Festival on March 12. Other South Strand events scheduled for March include the North Santee Oyster Roast (March 12), Kaminski House Easter Egg Hunt (March 26), and the Bellefield Plantation Tour (March 31).

* Golf: It's prime time to pull out the clubs from winter storage and warm up that golf swing, and Litchfield Beach & Golf Resort provides plenty of opportunities to play some of the top courses on the Grand Strand. In addition to the adjoining Litchfield Country Club, there are more than a dozen courses within a five-mile radius of the resort, including the famed Waccamaw Golf Trail. Check with our experienced golf staff for help booking tee times at local layouts, including Caledonia Golf & Fish Club, True Blue Plantation, The Heritage Club, Pawleys Plantation, The Tradition Club, TPC of Myrtle Beach and Willbrook Plantation.

Those are just a few of the fun activities you can enjoy during a mid-winter break on the south end of the Grand Strand, in the Pawleys Island / Litchfield area. However you decide to spend your weekend, be sure to use your down time to relax and recover at Litchfield Beach & Golf Resort – the perfect place to lose those wintertime blues.
