The summertime is a real blast in Myrtle Beach, and The Breakers Resort on the downtown oceanfront gives its guests a great home base for catching all the fireworks shows on the Grand Strand. In fact, three of the four local venues that feature free pyrotechnics displays are within a couple miles of The Breakers, so guests don't have to travel far to see the shows. Here is a schedule of the 2017 fireworks shows on the Strand, and everything guests at The Breakers need to know to go:

* Broadway at the Beach: When it comes to fireworks displays, once a week is not enough for this popular Myrtle Beach multi-purpose complex. Beginning Tuesday, June 6, Broadway at the Beach lights the fuse on a summer-long fireworks series that runs most Tuesday and Friday nights through the end of August. Find a nice spot along the shores of Lake Broadway and watch the spectacle with thousands of other “oohing and ahhing” spectators. Other fireworks show dates are June 6, 13, 20, 23, 27 and 30, followed by a huge Fourth of July bash. Pyrotechnics displays continue July 7, 11, 14, 18, 21, 25, and 28, and Aug. 1, 4, 8, 11, 15, 18, 22 and 29, capped by an end-of-summer show on Sept. 3. Admission is free, and the fireworks start at 10 p.m.

* Myrtle Beach Boardwalk: Guests at The Breakers have three easy routes to reach the epicenter of the downtown district for a one-of-a-kind fireworks display over the Atlantic Ocean. Simply stroll down the beach, the Boulevard or the Boardwalk to Plyler Park for the pre-game festivities, and then to Second Avenue Pier, where the pyrotechnics are launched over the ocean. Of course, you can also sit on the beach or on your private balcony at The Breakers and catch all the action. This year's lineup for pyrotechnics displays is June 14, 21, and 28; July 4, 12, 19, and 26; Aug. 2, 9, 16, and 23; and the season is capped with a special Labor Day weekend season finale on Sept. 2. Admission is free, and the fireworks begin at 10 p.m.

* Myrtle Beach Pelicans: The Class A Advanced affiliate of the Chicago Cubs is celebrating the historic World Series championship by its parent club, as well as its own back-to-back Carolina League titles, with a summer filled with fireworks shows. In addition to catching the baseball talent on the diamond and the off-the-field antics of the Pelicans' wacky promotional staff, fans can also enjoy postgame pyrotechnics without leaving their seats. After all Saturday-night (and a few additional) home games, the team flips the switch on the bright lights, and then lights up the sky over the stadium with a barrage of blasts. Upcoming shows are set for May 6 and 13, June 3, 10, 22, 24 and 25, July 4, 6, 13, 15, 20, 22 and 23, and August 3, 5, 6, 12 and 26.

* Barefoot Landing: This North Myrtle Beach entertainment, shopping and dining center plays host to SummerFest throughout the months of June, July and August, and it offers the perfect cure for your Monday blues with a big fireworks show over Barefoot Lake. The rest of the week features various activities, like a nightly sunset parade with stilt-walkers, jugglers and other roving entertainers. Barefoot Landing will also host a special Fourth of July celebration with an evening of fireworks. All fireworks shows start at 9:30 p.m.

There are many reasons to spend your Myrtle Beach vacation at The Breakers Resort — luxurious accommodations, excellent amenities, a great location and more — but the close proximity to all the local fireworks shows make it the perfect place to stay for folks who love to have a blast on the beach.
