Broadway at the Beach offers much more than great shopping, dining and nightlife. In fact, this popular Myrtle Beach entertainment complex is home to many of the Grand Strand's best attractions, giving the young and adventurous plenty of options for fun things to do while the grownups shop, eat and play. Better yet, Broadway's family-friendly activities can be enjoyed together as a group for some memorable vacation moments. Here are our top five attractions at Broadway at the Beach:
Broadway Grand Prix: Buckle up and hold on tight. This go-kart racetrack and fun park might look like a miniature NASCAR track, but the thrills are full throttle. Featuring a dozen different race courses ranging from twisting figure 8s to nard-nosed short-track ovals, the go-karts are all gassed up and ready for racing. Broadway Grand Prix also offers two putt-putt golf courses, a large arcade and game room and lots of other activities for families to enjoy.
Hollywood Wax Museum: Hang out with the stars, or at least very close replicas of the top names in show business, at this new attraction. It's hard to miss thanks to the eye-catching exterior, which features King Kong climbing the Empire State Building. The 40-foot ape may be the “biggest star” at the facility, but not the biggest name. The museum displays lifelike wax figures of celebrities from the entertainment industry, including film, TV, music and sports. Pose for a selfie with your favorite actors, actresses, singers and sports heroes and trick your friends on social media into thinking you are on the real red carpet. The venue also includes the Mirror Maze and Outbreak, two mind-bending activities for more thrills.
Pavilion Park: The old Pavilion Nostalgia Park has morphed into three different amusement parks spread throughout the Broadway at the Beach complex. The original park, now called Pavilion Park East, still offers the same thrill rides and the old carousel that was salvaged from the old Pavilion in downtown Myrtle Beach. The new Pavilion Park Central and West add new rides for all ages, and a kids-only amusement park provides safe and fun rides for the little ones. Guests can pay per ride or purchase all-access wrist bands so they can play all day.
Ripley's Aquarium: Explore the underwater world of bizarre and scary-looking sea creatures at this popular attraction. Featuring more than 1.5 million gallons of water and an uncountable number of species all under one roof, Ripley's Aquarium is a place of discovery for both young and old. Take a ride down the 330-foot moving walkway that carries patrons through Danger Reef and hundreds of hungry sharks; pet the stingrays and hold the horseshoe crabs at Ray Bay; and see a wide variety of aquatic animals from all over the world at the Discovery Center. Guests can also see a mermaid show, shark feedings and other special events held throughout the day.
WonderWorks: Get ready to exercise your body and mind at this science lab turned upside down. Featuring more than 100 exhibits that are based on the principles of science and nature, WonderWorks is a perfect example of the “edu-tainment” trend that is becoming increasingly popular with parents and children. The zipline, ropes course and laser tag center require extra fees, but the rest of the three-story funhouse allows curious kids and adults to explore at their own pace. Experience G-forces, lie down on a bed of nails, and ride the motion-master mock roller coaster at WonderWorks.
Perhaps the best thing about Broadway at the Beach’s attractions is the savings available to Compass Cove Resort guests. Be sure to check your Sun & Fun Rewards bonus package for free tickets to some of these fun activities and more.
