While the Myrtle Beach area is always filled with fun and excitement, even the best annual events need some spicing up on occasion – so here we’ve compiled a list of our favorite new area attractions for the summer of 2017. When you visit Paradise Resort, we’re always happy to help out with any questions you might have about any of these new additions, and we will probably even have some firsthand experience – so don’t hesitate to ask!

Let’s start the 2017 tour with something to tempt your taste buds. Carolina Ale House is set to be a new addition this summer, and it’s one our mouths are watering for already. If anyone in your family has a taste for craft beer and delicious food made with quality, fresh ingredients, then this is a place to put on your vacation agenda. Known not only for their food and craft beers but also their attention to customers, Carolina Ale House is sure to please. Their motto is to have what they call the “Ale Yeah! Attitude,” and you will feel it immediately. Wondering where you can find this new addition? Simple. If you are a return visitor, you will likely know when we say “the old Planet Hollywood location.” If you are new to town, that’s right across from Broadway at the Beach at the corner of the Highway 17 Bypass and 29th Avenue North.

Still feeling a little hungry? Looking for a unique place to visit during the family vacation this year? MOD Pizza is a new arrival, and it’s all the rage among locals. It’s a new way to think about pizza. Not only are all of the ingredients fresh, but everything is made to order. This is where you’ll want to go between playing mini golf and visiting the amusement park, or between shopping and hitting the beach. It’s delicious and fast, but it’s definitely NOT fast food. MOD offers exceptional, artisan-style pizzas and fresh salads, all of which are individually sized so that you can create your own, just the way you want it. They have over 30 toppings to choose from, and those toppings also create the most tempting salads. Where to find them? They are located on the south end of the Strand near Kohl’s and Stein Mart at the intersection of Highway 17 and Highway 544.

Locals have known about The Cooper House for years now as a gorgeous Southern venue for weddings and other special events. Recently, though, they have made some changes to the venue and now offer a dinner theater. Check their website at www.thecooperhouse.net before your vacation for the showtimes and reservation information. May will feature Chief  Kamu’s Hawaiian Fire and Hula Show, and June will feature the presentation of “Everybody’s a Critic.”  Aside from these shows, they are also hosting Mystery Dinner Theater with offerings such as smoked brisket, teriyaki chicken and shrimp jambalaya. All meals are prepared by an award-winning chef.

Just north of the Myrtle Beach city limits in North Myrtle Beach you will find a much-anticipated addition to our area – The Track Family Recreation Center. This is where your family members can get their vacation thrills and burn a little rubber. The Track features two multi-level elevated go-cart tracks. The first track you will notice is Wild Woody. This track takes you up three levels before circling back down three levels again. It’s definitely a wild ride! The second track is named the Mighty Myrtle, and she coils her riders in an elevated twist along the length of the arcade building. There are also tracks for the younger racers in your group.  They will enjoy the Rookie Karts and Kiddie Karts. Of course, the fun won’t end with the drive around the tracks. There is also a 6,000-square-foot arcade.

We can’t talk about new additions to the Grand Strand without mentioning the many changes that have taken place over the past year at Broadway at the Beach. That huge pyramid you are used to seeing from the Highway 17 Bypass – well, it’s gone! No worries, though. Hard Rock Cafe is still here, it’s just moved a little further into Broadway. You’ll know you are there when you see the HUGE guitar on the exterior of the building. Coming to the former pyramid’s location is the much-anticipated Dave and Buster’s arcade/sports bar/restaurant, which will now be the anchor attraction for Celebrity Square. If you like butter and Southern food, then you will want to head to the old Carlos’N Charlies location, which was torn down to make way for new restaurant Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen. The queen of Southern cooking’s new eatery is expected to be a huge draw this summer.

These are just some of the new additions to our area. The Grand Strand is always growing and evolving, and you’re not going to want to miss any of it. When you stay here with us at the oceanfront Paradise Resort, please ask us about the newest and hottest additions and the best-kept secrets among local spots. We will be happy to help you with both!
