Christmastime isn't the only thing that's just around the corner. So is Barefoot Landing, a Grand Strand hot spot for the holidays that is located less than 7 miles away from Long Bay Resort. Our guests can make the short trip to this shopping, dining and entertainment center in North Myrtle Beach and enjoy a wide range of events for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's.

Experience Christmas shopping in a stress-free environment; enjoy a Thanksgiving feast fit for a special holiday family dinner; let the kids play at a fun-filled Christmas village; and ring in 2017 in grand fashion on New Year's Eve. Here are some of the highlights that guests at Long Bay Resort can check out during the holiday season at Barefoot Landing:

* Lighting of the Landing: This annual event features lights on the tree and in the sky. Barefoot Landing holds its traditional Christmas tree lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19, followed by a not-so-traditional fireworks show that lights up the sky with exploding colors. The festivities kick off with live holiday music and entertainment, free hot cocoa and goodies, and a special appearance by Santa Claus to turn on the lights adorning the giant tree. Just as the nighttime sky goes completely dark around 7 p.m., Barefoot Landing lights the fuse on a fireworks display over Barefoot Lake.

* Black Friday: Black Friday doesn't have to be a dark day at a laid-back place like Barefoot Landing, and your shopping doesn't have to happen on Friday, either. Starting at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 25 (individual shops have the option to open earlier), Barefoot Landing provides a cheerful atmosphere this holiday shopping season with a month-long celebration of Christmas. Free hot chocolate, treats and carousel rides help keep the little ones entertained, while the grown-ups can shop along the scenic boardwalk surrounding Barefoot Lake. Occasional live music and holiday-themed entertainment will be held throughout the season, and special sales offer savvy shoppers the chance to find some bargains while working on their Christmas gift lists.

* Alabama Theatre: This Barefoot Landing venue serves plenty of holiday cheer with its annual The South's Grandest Christmas Show. Updated year after year to keep folks coming back time after time, the show sees the Alabama Theatre roll out a star-studded cast of professional singers, dancers, comedians and ice skaters to put the audience in the Christmas spirit. Santa Claus steals the show and joins the cast afterward for an autograph session and photo opportunity in the main lobby, which is decorated to a tee. Take pics with your favorite performers, and if you’re lucky, you might also get to snap an elf selfie.

* House of Blues: This internationally famous restaurant chain and music venue is party central for the holidays. Located on the northern end of Barefoot Landing, the House of Blues is within easy walking distance for dinner and a show after a busy day of shopping. Feast at the Thanksgiving Day buffet or enjoy a special Christmas version of the Sunday Gospel Brunch series, then catch a concert in the main music hall or the adjoining bar. The culmination of the season is a New Year's Eve Party that will help you kick off 2017 in grand style.
