Guests return to Compass Cove Resort summer after summer to enjoy the sun, sand and surf, as well as the great hospitality, accommodations and amenities. But the fun doesn't stop after Labor Day. In fact, the Myrtle Beach fall festival season is just getting started.

From food and fireworks to concerts and car shows, the Grand Strand is bustling with activity in September, October, and November. The moderate temperatures and lighter crowds create the ideal setting for community events that bring out the best Myrtle Beach has to offer.

The Grand Strand kicks off the fall festival season in style with the 10th Annual Beach Boogie & BBQ Festival. Featuring two fun-filled days of live music, dancing and the best barbecue in the state, the BB&BBQ puts on a smoking good time for festival goers. Held on the HGTC campus near Market Common, the event hosts cooking teams competing in the South Carolina Official BBQ Competition, which includes pulled pork BBQ, chicken wings, burgers and more. The event includes a car show, arts and crafts vendors, a beer and wine garden, a cornhole tournament and a fireworks show on Saturday night. For more information, visit www.mbhospitality.com.

Another popular event at the nearby Market Common is the Seacoast Artists Guild Arts and Crafts Festival. Held in Valor Park, this two-day event (Sept. 26-27) draws some of the top artists and craftsmen on the East Coast to exhibit their works in rows of vendor tents. Shop for wood carvings, oil paintings, glass work and other art forms for a deal on a one of a kind item, and talk to the artists first hand. Food and drink booths also will be available.
