If you are vacationing in Myrtle Beach and staying here with us at the Paradise Resort, you must try and check out this unique and different experience during your stay.  The Paradise Resort is only about 1 mile from the event, that is held in The Market Commons.

This is an opportunity for the entire family to come together to enjoy a peaceful and memorable waterside experience. Set for the evening of Saturday, June 29, 2019, the Water Lantern Festival promises to attract hundreds of attendees to Grand Park (located at 1011 Crabtree Lane in Myrtle Beach) to create their own floating lanterns and enjoy a serene, candle-lit scene on the water.

While the festival’s main draw is the beautiful scene created by the event’s hundreds of floating lanterns — each personally decorated by event attendees with drawings and hand-written messages of love, hope and happiness — it also offers additional attractions that serve to entertain event-goers of all ages. These include music, food trucks and other fun activities from 5:30 to 9 p.m., followed by the chance to design your own lantern at 8:30 p.m. before, as the darkness of the evening sets in, setting the glowing lantern afloat during the 9-9:30 p.m. lantern launch.

Tickets to the event range in price from $25 for Early tickets (available through the end of May), to $30 Regular tickets (available through June 15), $35 Late tickets (available through June 28), and $40 Day-of tickets on June 29. Youth tickets start at $12 for children ages 8-14, and kids ages 7 and under are admitted for free. Further, a Date Night Special offers a pair of tickets and a bonus mandala throw at 10% off regular prices. The price of admission includes entry to the festival, your own floating lantern, a marker for decorating your lantern, a commemorative drawstring bag and an attendee wristband.

Festival organizers are also committed to staging a green event. The lanterns themselves are composed of wood and rice paper, making them 100% eco-friendly. And when the event ends, festival staff will ensure that all lanterns are collected and removed from the water, and that all trash on the event grounds is cleaned up.
