If you need a little break from the beach but still want to experience life under the sea, make a point to visit Ripley’s Aquarium in Myrtle Beach. Located in the Broadway at the Beach shopping and dining district, this attraction offers fascinating daily exhibits, unforgettable behind-the-scenes experiences, and live shows.

Some of the live shows you may encounter when visiting Ripley’s Aquarium include Ray Bay Mermaid Show, Rainbow Rock Dive, and Shark Feeding. Current exhibits feature marine animals like sandtiger sharks, moray eels, and green sea turtles. Visitors can get a closer look at the Discovery Center, where guests can interact and get hands-on experiences with animals like puffer fish and horseshoe crabs. For an even more up-close and personal aquarium experience, take part in the “Swim with the Sharks” or “Swim with the Rays” programs.

For the true aquarium fan, Ripley’s offers many different behind-the-scenes and overnight activities for guests. Add a sleepover to your family’s adventure with the aquarium’s “Sleep with the Sharks” program. On Thursday nights throughout the summer, families can sleep under the sea, as they gaze up at sharks and other ocean animals. Wednesday nights are kids only! Children ages 6-14 can join Ripley’s educators for a night filled with fun and learning. If you’re interested in an aquarium sleepover, all you’ll need is a sleeping bag, a pillow, a pad or air mattress (if desired), and personal toiletries. The schedule of events includes things like a self-guided aquarium tour, an educational shark program, scavenger hunts, and late-night snacks!
