New Flight Routes to Begin for Myrtle Beach International Airport

A substantial part of the allure of vacations — and especially beach getaways — is that they give travelers a chance to set their responsibilities aside for an extended period and simply relax. For many vacationers, though, the break from life’s burdens doesn’t always extend to the roadways, where travelers who came by car often have to deal with navigating a new-to-them town, enduring frequently heavy traffic and (perhaps the biggest of the transport-related challenges) finding good parking spots when they reach their destination’s top attractions.

But thanks to a relatively new amenity in the Myrtle Beach area — the Big Red Bus SC — vacationers can leave the keys and their car behind during much of their visit to the Grand Strand … and leave the driving to a professional with extensive knowledge of the area.

A Transport Option With a Doubly Delightful Appeal

Owning the distinction of being South Carolina’s first registered double-decker bus, the Big Red Bus was launched in 2019 by area business partners who sought to provide more than simply “a ride around town.” The bus, which was brought over from England, was initially a traditional double-decker bus with a closed-in second level. To create a fun new perspective for riders, though, the owners removed the top to create an open-air top level. And in addition to providing a new and fun way for Myrtle Beach visitors to see the area’s many fun sights and lights, the bus also offers a range of fun experiences for the vacationers who hop aboard.

An Array of Activities on Offer

Among the tours and experiences available to Myrtle Beach vacationers who book with the Big Red Bus:

Kruzin’ the Boulevard

This 1-hour excursion takes sightseers up and down Myrtle Beach’s famous Ocean Boulevard, where they can check out a number of landmark area attractions and beautiful coastal views.

Big Bus BrewFest

Limited to guests 21 and older, this 4-hour tour takes suds lovers to some of the area’s best brew spots, including Crooked Hammock Brewery, New South Brewery and Grand Strand Brewery. To add to the tour’s appeal, complimentary beer is served at most of the brewery stops along the way, and guests receive other perks like brewery stickers, koozies and a souvenir hat.

Ghost Tours

Not for the faint of heart, this 1-hour tour takes attendees to some of the area’s most haunted spots. A live guide shares famous ghost stories along the way, and those who dare can even join a guided walk through an area cemetery.

Dyrty Myrtle Redneck Riviera Comedy Tour

Available to guests 18 and older, this 1-hour tour loads up the laughs as attendees see area sights and learn about area history while enjoying a live “dirty myrtle” comedy skit from local comedian Steve Marriott.

Custom Tours

Groups can also book the Big Red Bus for customized tours and experiences. This is a great option for bachelor/bachelorette parties, corporate outings, fundraisers, school trips, birthdays and family reunions.

Of course, the Big Red Bus isn’t the only unique way for vacationers to get around the Grand Strand. The Myrtle Beach area offers a range of other fun modes of transportation, including golf cart rentals, scooter rentals, bike rentals and more.
